This old stove....
Is what I am calling the "recessory of the day". Now, I don't know how i'd exactly feel about reusing it for cooking...But more as a show piece, maybe a sweet vintage accessory to add to your home. This old stove was one of the many beautiful pieces we spotted in East Flatbush yesterday, while aimlessly biking through Brooklyn. The old auto garage, which is now Paul's Used Furniture & Antiques had many beautiful, very ancient and rare pieces, if ever in East Flatbush, check it out....

Doug's Shirts R.I.P. January 2009
As Doug (my boyfriend) finally decided, it was time to part ways with nearly 40 of his beloved shirts and jackets, taking us all the way back to the 90's. Shirts he will no longer wear, but has a sweet sentiment for. Memories dating back over a decade, taking up too much space in his closet, it was time to purge. This video archives the clothing articles and takes us down memory lane. To purchase or request anything in this slideshow, email me @ recessories@gmail.com.

Salvation Army Atlantic Ave. the first visit of 2009....
I love these hilarious things that you come across while browsing....You wonder what possessed a person to buy these things in the first place, and what was the deciding factor on getting rid of it, and donating it to the Salvation Army?
I came out with 3 items, 2 of the 3 were half off yellow ticket prices. The item that was not half off was of fancy label, and a vintage design...Gloria Vanderbilt, and still just marked at $2.99. A kilt for an upcoming Robbie Burns celebration, and another cream colored, vintage wintery sweater, with my ever-so favorite style, the princess puff sleeve. Not bad for $7.46.

What's a recessory?
A word developed (well, made up) in 2008, spawn from our current state of financial affairs. A recycled possession, something thrift, something old, but new, well new to you. A ha
nded down item, swapped, re-furbished, maybe something you bought at a yard sale, or got marked down off the marked down ticket price. Salvation Army and Goodwill's are filled with these gems. Maybe you've altered it, maybe you out
grew it, or it out grew you.

I was raised on
recessories, T.J. Maxx's
and the likes. My mother taught us to never buy full price, only shop sales, because you know in a week or 2 it will be marked down. Also, never refuse a
hand-me down. By the time I was a Junior in High School I discovered thrift stores for my "lil granny-esque" styles. I am a walking recessory, and I regret not documenting the recessories that have come in and out of my life thus far. This year I want to document some of the recessories in my life, and the recycling I'll do along the way.
The first stab at it, was the eve of the eve of new year's eve, this past Monday night, it was the perfect night to recessorize. Clean out the closet, and start fresh for 09'. Steph came over to look at a bag of goods I was gonna take to Beacon's Closet, but being that she is my best lady, and a size smaller for when i "grow" (haha) out of my clothes she gets first dibs. These photos posted, are some items she scored along the way....
